| Abstract/Contents: | Answers the question: "Which grub-control works best in October?" The author suggests that controls should be applied earlier in the year, such as in July or August when the young grubs are more susceptible to insecticides. This applies to most controls except imidacloprid (Bayer's Merit) and halofenozide (Rohmid's Mach 2), which can be applied as early as May or June. Also answers: "Is there a variety of Kentucky bluegrass suitable for the shorter height of cut of tees?" Suggests that perennial ryegrass and creeping bentgrass are good choices for under 0.5 inch and several Kentucky bluegrasses would work in the range of 0.5 to 0.75 inch. The final question answered is: "How can I get seed that's free of Poa trivialis contamination?" Recommendations include getting a complete seed analysis and using Gold Tag seed, which undergoes a more stringent analysis. |
