Abstract/Contents:Seeds of P. pratensis were treated with (a) distilled water (control), (b) 0.2% KNO3 sol., (c) 300 or (d) 500 p.p.m. GA, (e) 300 p.p.m. GA + 0.2% KNO3 (1:1) or (f) 500 p.p.m. GA + 0.2% KNO3 (1:1). The best results were obtained with (e) which increased germination capacity for about 4 months after harvest, until the 3rd month of storage, but after this period it had no effect. Treatments (b), (c) and (d) gave similar but less favourable results, while seeds held at 7-8 deg C for 3 days exhibited increased germination capacity for a short period, up to 2 months after harvest.
