Abstract/Contents:Describes current techniques used by turf managers to provide quality greens for customers. Techniques include: scouting insect populations, providing optimum growing conditions, reducing pesticide use, using global positioning systems, applying insecticides beneath the turf surface, exploring non-chemical approaches, and using more effective and less toxic chemicals such as Merit® and Mach 2®. Public perceptions of pesticides and issues surrounding the Food Quality Protection Act are also discussed.
