Abstract/Contents:In 1973, '74 and '75, freshly harvested seed of a number of Kentucky bluegrass cv. was subjected to 100% RH and 50 deg , 43 or 41 deg C, resp., or 50 deg , 60 deg or 55 deg C, resp. Rapid aging at 50 deg C and 100% RH for 1 day significantly increased the speed and total germination of dormant cv. P-164. Aging at 43 deg C for 1-3 days or at 41 deg C for 1-4 days improved germination. Dry heat treatments for 1-3 days at 50 deg C increased the speed and total germination of P-164. 55 deg and 60 deg C treatments for 2 and 4 days decreased the dormancy of cv. Touchdown. Germination of cv. P-143 and P-154 was increased after 2 and 4 days at 55 deg C.
