Abstract/Contents: | Discusses how Loftus Road managed to provide a suitable playing field during the New Year's football program in 1998, despite the thunderstorms that made all other fields unplayable. The reason included a modern drainage system, an underground heating system and DD GrassMaster turf. The turf product consists of artificial fibers injected into the turf, which encourages the natural grass to bind and root as deeply as the fibers. The fibers also provide channels for water to run faster into the drainage system. |
