Abstract/Contents:"Control of fusarium patch (pink snow mold) and typhula blight (gray snow mold) on golf course fairways with fungicides, 1997: A trial was conducted on a Kentucky bluegrass golf course fairway at Whitefish, MT. The soil was a cobbly silt loam (pH 5.5 to 5.8). Plots were fertilized annual with a total of 3 lb N/1000 ft² as 32-3-10 in three split application during the growing season. The annual precipitation was 20.2 in. Individual treatment plots were 10 ft x 10 ft with four replications in a randomized complete-block design. Treatments were applied on 31 Oct 96 with a CO₂ pressurized boom sprayer with XR11002VS fan-flat TeeJet nozzles, at 49 gal H₂O/A carrier rate. The plots received no supplemental inoculum. Heavy snow covered the plots from 3 Nov 96 through 15 Apr 97. Plots were rated for disease severity and turf quality on 24 Apr 97. Fusrium [Fusarium] patch and Typhula blight were severe in the non-treated control plots with a ratio of approximately 75% Fusarium patch:25% Typhula blight. The percentage of area infected was used to assess disease severity. Best Fusarium patch and Typhula blight control was with CGA BMP 46.5WP 2 oz, Banner MAXX 14.3MEC 3 fl oz + Daconil 2787 75W 8 oz, EXP 10780A 2F 4 fl oz + Daconil 2787 75W 8 oz, Medallion 50WP 0.5 oz, Banner MAXX 14.3MEC 2 fl oz + Medallion 50WP 0.25 oz, and Terraclor 75W 4 oz. Fungicide treatments improved turf quality."
