| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the contents of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Solid Waste report called "Organic Materials Management Strategies" which was released in May 1998. The report analyzes costs associated with various composting methods in the U.S. Detailed cost information for each method is provided in tables. The methods analyzed are: grasscycling programs, home composting, on-site institutional composting, yard trimmings composting programs, commercial composting, mixed waste composting, and residential source separation. Also discusses the Compost Strategy Savings Curve, which identifies the most cost-effective combination of options available for composting the entire U.S. organics stream. |
