Abstract/Contents: | "Mole crickets cause significant damage to high quality turf throughout the south eastern United States. Due to its subterranean nature this pest has proven quite difficult and expenisive to control. A good understanding of mole cricket biology, ecology, and behaviour is critical in establishing an effective management plan. The use of a multi-tactic management approach is essential to provide the desired level of control in an environmentally sound manner. This paper presents the results of a broad research effort directed at mole crickets on golf courses. It further discusses the integration of this research into a effective management program. The overall adoption of this program by golf course superintendents has been quite high and the results have been the maintenance of high quality turf in a cost-effective manner." |
