| Abstract/Contents: | Data were recorded in the course of a single season's observation on the dates of reaching five developmental stages, and on the length of stem, ear and leaf, leaf breadth, number of florets in the ear, 1000-seed weight and germinating capacity of 30 ecotypes and three varieties of Poa pratensis, 28 of P. palustris and 24 of P. compressa. There were large ranges of variation in the developmental dates and in morphological characters. Variation in resistance to Erysiphe graminis and Puccinia coronata was particularly noticeable in P. pratensis. P. compressa was variable in lodging resistance and in growth habit, erect, prostrate and intermediate forms being distinguishable. |
