Abstract/Contents:Discusses the practice of blending different cultivars of creeping bentgrass on golf courses. The main arguments for using blends are that it increases the genetic diversity of the turfgrass stand, and that blending cultivars with different stress resistance characteristics can increase the hardiness of the overall stand. However, improper choice of cultivars or competition between cultivars may sometimes reduce any benefits gained by blending. Summarizes research regarding blends and discusses the question of whether or not blends should be used on golf courses.
