Abstract/Contents:Summarizes a survey of customers in two age groups (37-42 and near-25) about their preferences concerning various types of mulch. Three traditional mulches (pine bark, pine needles, and wheat straw) and two recycled paper mulches (in three different colors) were used in the study. The study examined the effect of income levels on mulch choice as well as aesthetic values rated by the participants. Preference data were collected twice, once when the plants were first established and again six weeks later after plant growth. Provides the results in a table. Pine bark was rated highest by both groups at both times and the recycled pellets tended to rank lower.
