| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses summer stress syndrome, which is the "thinning of turf on greens [and] is usually accompanied by a shortening of the roots." Suggests that "the simplest solution is usally the removal of the trees or mounds that block prevailing winds, but this is often difficult to do because of membership resistance...the next best option is the use of fans to supply air movement." Offers other potential solutions, such as providing good aerification and top-dressing, using limited amounts of nitrogen at any one time, and using fungicides. |
