Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of native turf species for environmentally friendly landscapes and the belief that this is a good way to lower maintenance costs. Emphasizes that the native plants don't compete as well with annual weeds, and landscapers end up having to use additional herbicide applications. Recommends buffalograss in the Great Plains, centipedegrass in the South, and Kentucky bluegrass in the Central East as species that can lower maintenance costs. |
