Abstract/Contents: | Examines the cost savings (for the year 1984) associated with new lubricant technology used in a typical American factory. Provides the specific technology examined and the savings that resulted from its use. The technology applications discussed include: longer anti-friction bearing life, new synthetic engine oils, lower plant heating costs, improved operation of hydraulic presses, new high temperature grease for oven bearings and gears, longer life on variable speed drive bushings, clutch life improvement on N/C numerical controlled multi-spindle automatics, correct internal cleaning of machines, improved air compressor operation, reduction in oil inventory, development of a comprehensive lubrication program, better oil filtration, use of molybdenum grease, solvent changes, electrical discharge fluid, improved braider lubrication, and elimination of air line filter bowl problems. |
