Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides', the Oregon Environmental Council's and the Oregon State Public Interest Group's development of draft legislation for establishing a pesticide right-to-know law in Oregon. Describes key concepts of this policy including: the overall purpose; collecting information on what, when, how much, where, and for what purpose pesticides are used; reporting pesticide use in all areas accessable to the public; reporting pesticide sales; the creation of an advisory board to advise the Oregon Department of Agriculture on the development and implementation of the program; allow electronic reporting to make reporting as easy as possible; the publishing of an annual report summarizing the information; establishing a competitive grants program to fund voluntary efforts developing alternatives to pesticides; and the creation of a wholesale purchase fee to fund the program. |
