Abstract/Contents:Describes how turf managers get turfgrass ready for TV. In Amsterdam Arena they transplant the turf. An arena for playing cricket is under construction and they are building a nursery to help out with keeping the plants healthy. Another golf course talked about is Hankley Common Golf Course which is undergoing a transformation. Hankley Common now has restored the course to its orginal heathland landscape and won the BIGGA's 1997 Golf Environment Competition. The course manager Ian McMillan said that the need for a more heather environment was evident and by tree felling they accomplished more growth. In the bowls, more expertise in getting the turf into condition and skills is needed. In order to meet this need, clubs have made joint maintenance contracts.
