Abstract/Contents:"The effect of triadimefon on the growth of annual bluegrass (Poa annua) was examined in growth chambers under four environmental regimes. No significant (P=0.05) differences in foliar dry weight were round between treated and untreated P. annua grown under three of the regimes, i.e., cool/wet, cool/dry, or hot/dry. Under hot/wet conditions, however, the dry weight of foliage from treated plants was significantly (P=0.05) less than the dry weight of untreated foliage, and was statistically comparable to the dryweight of untreated P. annua grown under hot/dry conditions. Triadimefon-treated plants flowered earlier than untreated plants under wet growing conditions, and flowered later than control plants under dry conditions. The response of P. annua to triadimefon appeared to be influenced by both temperature and moisture and may explain, in part, the improved survival of triadimefon-treated annual bluegrass during periods of summer heat and drought stress."
