Abstract/Contents:Discusses the processes a scientist goes through when starting an experiment and what can happen while the experiment is running. Describes an experiment that was run at the Ft. Lauderdale research greens to investigate the control of Phythium blight in overseeding of bermudagrass greens. New and old products such as Heritage 50WG, Subdue Maxx 2MC and Aliette were compared. Discusses how unexpected events led the researchers to discover how to produce inoculum, inoculate with a pathogen and establish an epidemic in the field. The experiment also produced some unexpected results related to algae control.
