Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a study performed to determine the field hardness, surface uniformity, and surface smoothness of a soccer field. "...soccer fields were sectioned off in grid fashion enabling us to return to the same area for continued surface hardness monitoring. A total of 80 impact readings were recorded monthly and spatial diagrams constructed. Ball roll and deflection distances were also evaluated at eight locations on the field, by releasing a soccer ball inflated to a specific pressure from a height of seven feet down an aluminum ramp 10 feet long inclined at 45 degrees." |
