Abstract/Contents: | Describes how the Palm Aire's Mighty Oaks Course has been updated. The course had to be ready for tournament play. The owners lengthened the course, changed the par, replaced the turf, replanted trees and installed a new irrigation system. The tournament tees increased in yardage and the elevation was modified. The greens underwent total reconstruction to USGA recommendations. The course is reported to player-friendly. It is challenging yet fair. The layout has the houses on the perimeter of the course so that no traffic goes through the course. To be a stop on the PGA tour it is important to have the layout has to be maintained at the highest level and that it must be state-of-the art. The renovations were done because golfers seek a quality golf experience and are willing to pay for it. |
