Abstract/Contents: | Describes how municipal golf course are no longer second-rate golf courses to private clubs. Gives examples of municipal golf courses from Virginia to Los Angeles and the common characteristics that they all have. They are all operated at no cost to the tax payer and the course is usually self-sustaining. The golf courses discussed are in the towns of Norfolk, VA, Clemmons, NC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Atlanta, GA, San Antonio and Austin, TX and Los Angeles, CA. Gives a brief description of each of the municipal course and gives their strengths and some of the tournaments that were played on those courses. |
