| Abstract/Contents: | Observes quality of greens with various organic supplements and attempts to explain effects of the supplements. Moisture retention in the root zone, changes in root zone mix cation exchange capacity, and nutrients status and microbial activity as evidenced by key enzymes were all investigated. Five organic supplement blends were observed, including formulations of Milorganite, Sustane, and OptiMil. The greens were fertilized and traffic simulation was applied. Enzyme analysis is still underway. Includes tables of results. It was concluded that Milorganite was the only supplement with a significant impact on putting green quality, due to increased water retention rather than chemical properties of the supplement. |
