| Abstract/Contents: | A single application of HOE-2501 (0.17 and 0.28 kg/ha) effectively controlled crabgrass in the one leaf to five tiller stage in June and early July, but these rates did not provide satisfactory control of crabgrass in the four to six tiller stage in late July, 1983. HOE-A2501 (0.17 kg/ha) tank mixed with DCPA (11.8 kg ai/ha) and oxadiazon 20 DG (2.8 kg/ha) provided excellent postemergence control of crabgrass seedlings and subsequent preemergence control of crabgrass in a situation of high weed pressure. Where crabgrass pressure was moderate, HOE-A2501 (0.17 kg/ha), tank mixed with benefin 20 DG (3.4 kg/ha), bensulide 4E (8.4 kg/ha), DCPA 75W, and oxadiazon 20 DG gave an effective combination of post and preemergence control of crabgrass. Oxadiazon 20 DG discolored perennial ryegrass and bermudagrass turfs and failed to adequately go into suspension. HOE-A2501 controlled goosegrass in the one to three tiller stage, but when tank mixed with preemergence herbicides, satisfactory season-long control of goosegrass was not achieved. MSMA at 1.1 kg/ha applied 3 times on a 7 day interval or 2.2 kg/ha applied twice on a 14 day interval provided excellent control of mature (3 to 6 tillers) crabgrass, but discolored the turf. |
