Abstract/Contents:Discusses new high density bentgrass and bermudagrass cultivars. Emphasizes that golf course superintendents need to adjust the cultural needs of the new cultivar morphology to ensure a greater level of sucess. Genetic capability for a high shot density and not requiring high nitrogen fertilization are a few of the highlights of the new cultivars. The new cultivars restrict sunlight penetration to the soil surface because of high shoot density.
