Abstract/Contents:"Three methods of vegetative propagation were compared for effectiveness in centipedegrass (Eremochloa ophiuroides (Munro) Hack.) survivability and growth in Gainesville, FL from January to June 1977. Plug and sod methods were superior to spring propagation in survivability. Grass planted by the former two methods averaged 100% survival compared to 82% for the latter method. However, sprig propagation was the most cost-effective method of centipedegrass propagation in the winter period provided supplemental irrigation was provided on a daily vasis. Water restrictions might make vegetative propagation during the dormant season impractical. Rooting of centipedegrass did not commence until soil temperatures reached 25°C."
