| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study evaluating the effects of repeated annual leaf mulch applications on turf. Three rates of mulched maple leaves were applied to perennial ryegrass turf every October, 1994-1996. Nitrogen was also applied at three rates. Clipping weight, quality and color ratings were made monthly; thatch, soil pH and soil nutrient concentrations were measured yearly. Leaves so far have had no negative effect on quality, color, growth, thatch accumulation, disease incidence, weed infestation, soil pH or nutrient availability. Data collection will continue throughout the year 2000. |
