| Abstract/Contents: | Presents the results of a study comparing four hybrid bermudagrass cultivars (Champion, Tifdwarf, Tifgreen and Tifway) at two mowing heights (golf green and golf fairway/tee/athletic field) at two light levels (20% and 100% irradiance). Cultivars were evaluated for vertical growth, aboveground biomass, stolon number and visual quality; shoot, thatch and root biomass were measured at the end of the study. None of the four cultivars tested were found to be adapted to growth under 20% irradiance at either mowing height. It is suggested that further research be done to evaluate these cultivars at less severe levels of shade. |
