| Abstract/Contents: | The mechanisms of plant resistance to Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) and the history of research on them are reviewed. Sources of resistance to this pest have been discovered in the Antigua 2D and MP496 varieties of maize, in the Inbred 240 variety of millet (Pennisetum americanum), in the coastal Bermuda grass variety of Cynodon dactylon and in the Southeastern Runner variety of groundnut. Attention is drawn to the variation in resistance to S. frugiperda according to the degree and type of nutrition of the food-plant. |
