| Abstract/Contents: | Presents the results of a study investigating the effects of plant growth regulators and nitrogen rate on Kentucky bluegrass. Various rates of Primo, Cutless, Embark or Enhancer were applied in combination with two different fertilization rates. Plots were evaluated for growth and growth regulator injury. "This study demonstrates that growth regulation can be employed on lawn turf without injuring the turf, depending on product, rate and timing. A clear interaction exists among level of fertility, growth regulation, and turfgrass injury. Interestigly, a substantial 'rebound effect' was observed in September following complete release from growth regulation and possibly indicates enhanced carbohydrate storage during regulation. It still remains to be seen if growth regulators can become a cost effective tool for the landscape manager." |
