Abstract/Contents:"A survey was carried out for turfgrass diseases during the spring and summer of 1995 in Alberta. A total of 41 samples were collected from seven golf courses. At least 10 subsammples from each sample were used to isolate the pathogens. Fusarium spp. were the most dominant fungus found in those samples. Microdochium nivale (Fusarium nivale) was isolated from six out of seven golf courses. Eight other Fusarium species including F. culmorum, F. crookwellease, F. acuminatum, F. graminearum, F. reticulatum, F. avenaceum, F. oxysporum and F. solani were also found. In addition, other fungi isolated included Pythium spp., Colletotrichum graminicola, Gaeumannomyces graminis, Septoria and Ascochyta sp, Phoma sp. Coprinus sp. The results suggest that Fusarium Blight is the major problem of turfgrass in the golf courses in Alberta."
