Abstract/Contents:Since turf maintenance professionals are still largely dependent upon insecticides for control of soil insect pests, "most of the ideas discussed here are basic considerations in developing effective control efforts with insecticides, and are important regardless of geographic area. With impending changes in law - and few turf insecticides it is more important than ever that we use our knowledge and skills effectively." Turf managers should consider the following factors that influence control strategies: the pest, insecticides, soil thatch, timing and water.
