Abstract/Contents:"The types of grasses that are selected for fairways must now come under a fairly rigid set of specifications. The grasses must be able to withstand a height of cut between 3/8 and 5/8 of an inch, be able to be groomed into an upright posture, and be able to withstand an increased volume of play as well as cart traffic. Therefore, wear resistance, drought resistance, and disease resistance all have become a consideration." The type of grasses mentioned are Agrostis species, Lolium perenne, Poa annua, Cynodon spp., Zoysia spp. and Poa pratensis.
