Abstract/Contents:"Advertising makes first contacts, opens doors, and pre-sells. Additionally, advertising helps find new markets for existing products or to introduce new services or build demand for a product. Other reasons for advertising include paving the way for a sales person's call, maintenance contact with customers between calls, raising buyers' standards, and creating identity. In short, advertising establishes contact, creates awareness, arouses interest, builds preference, and keeps customers sold." This article explains the importance of price in marketing, and the development of a marketing plan. "Marketing plans fail because of lack of consistency, spreading too few dollars over too ambitious of a program, expectation of an immediate payback, and inappropriate marketing plan goals. Effective marketing requires an ongoing commitment and the benefits are cumulative. Plans should focus on quanitifiable goals such as numbers of customers, number of first-time orders, and repeat orders. To be effective, a marketing plan must include all the right elements."
