Abstract/Contents:These tests were designed to find effective chemicals to control grubs of the Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica) and Southern masked chafer (Cyclocephala lurida). The grubs were captured and placed into PVC cylinders which had been sunk into the ground. 24 hours after the grubs were deposited, the chemicals were applied. Nineteen days after treatment the cylinders were removed, and the dead grubs were counted. The results did not indicate a significant kill ratio, possibly because the cylinders were not sunk to a lower depth. An attached table lists the chemicals used in the test and their effects on each grub species.
