| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses tests of residual effectiveness of isazophos (Triumph 4E) as affected by irrigation and soil pH. For the irrigation test, there were two levels of watering. For the pH test, subplots were treated either with aluminum sulfate to lower soil pH, calcium hydroxide to raise soil pH, or were left untreated. PVC pipe cylinders were sunk into each subplot. These cylinders were either treated with isazophos, or left untreated. Grubs were then placed into each cylinder. 15 days later, the soil was examined and grubs were counted. Watering had no effect on the number of surviving grubs. although soil pH, timing of isazophos application, and pH x timing interactions were highly significant. "The data [from the irrigation test] suggest good remedial control but little or no residual effectiveness." pH data indicated that strength of residual control is directly proportional to the acidity of the soil. |
