| Abstract/Contents: | Presents the results of a study evaluating five herbicides (prodiamine, dithiopyr, pendimethalin, oxadiazon, and bensulide) for control of Poa annua in a Kentucky bluegrass nursery. The herbicides were applied at three different rates, either at sowing or at emergence of Poa annua. "For all the herbicides evaluated the study showed that satisfactory Poa annua control is achievable with label rate, or 12.5-25% less the label rate, if herbicide application was made before Poa seed germination. For prodimaine, dithiopyr, pendimethalin and bensulide, a delay of application until emergence may reduce herbicide effectiveness regardless of the rate used. The window of application for oxadiazon is wider and could be delayed until Poa emergence without loss of herbicidal activity." |
