Abstract/Contents:Insecticides were evaluated on Herpetogramma phaeopteralis (Gn.) on Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) and Blissus insularis Barber on St. Augustinegrass (Stenotaphrum secundatum). Carbofuran, dialifos, fonofos (Dyfonate), leptophos, and pirimiphos-ethyl (Primicid) provided excellent control of both the target population of H. phaeopteralis and the reinfestive population 3-4 weeks later. Biotrol and Dipel (preparations of Bacillus thuringiensis) gave significantly better control of H. phaeopteralis than no treatment. B. insularis was controlled with treatments of carbofuran, Dyfonate, ethoprophos (Mocap), primidophos (PP484), Primicid and propyl thiopyrophosphate.
