Abstract/Contents: | Discusses shutting down an irrigation system for the winter and starting it up again in the spring. Describes ways of draining pipes, including gravity draining and blowing pipes out with compressed air. Suggests a step-by-step method for when the compressed air hose is connected to the pump house/water source, and also for when a portable compressor is used. Provides safety precautions when winterizing the irrigation system. Explains processes for shutting down the rest of the irrigation system after the pipes are drained. Recommends when to start-up the irrigation system in the spring so as to avoid damage. |
