| Abstract/Contents: | "In this article, we report on our work to identify differences in germination rate with cold temperatures among rough bluegrass varieties and seed lots....The results in both the chamber and field study showed that there were significant differences in seed germination among the four temperature regimes or four overseeding dates, and significant differences among varieties and seed lots." The germination percentages in growth chambers and on bermudagrass greens are displayed. "Our study results showed different rough bluegrass varieties and seed lots varied widely in germination rate, especially at late seeding dates when low temperatures are likely. Until a screening procedure is developed to identify cold sensitive varieties and seed lots, use of blends of several varieties is suggested to ensure the success of rough bluegrass overseeding establishment." Also briefly mentions other studies also being conducted. |
