Abstract/Contents:Discusses earthworm casting (when earthworms deposit fecal matter onto the turf surface), and the problems it poses for golf course maintenance. Describes causes of earthworm casting, which species are most problematic, and some methods of control (pH reduction, clipping collection, proper soil texture). Also mentions new population-reduction strategies such as physical removal of earthworms, although this practice is labor intensive and does not aduequately reduce casting. Briefly comments on chemical options for earthworm control.
