Abstract/Contents:"A fine fescue turf evaluation trial was seeded Aug 1996 at a rate of 4 lb/1000 ft² near Hubbard, OR. The trial consisted of commercially available and advanced experimental cultivars seeded into 3' x 5' plots. Each cultivar was replicated three times in a randomized complete block design. The trial received 5.5 lb N/1000 ft²/yr, 1" irrigation/wk in absence of rainfall, and no fungicides. The trial was mowed three times/wk at 1.5" mowing height. Leaf spot occurred throughout the trial during Jan and visible foliar symptoms were evaluated. Significant differences in disease reaction were observed among cultivars. Slender creeping red fescues exhibited the least disease damage, followed by strong creeping red and Chewings fescues. Hard fescues and sheep fescues showed the most disease damage."
