| Abstract/Contents: | "Surface algae growth continues to be a long-standing problem in turfgrass management, despite attempts to improve drainage and aeration to control the problem. Modern cultural practices on golf greens including high levels of fertility and irrigation may even contribute to the problem. A study in Dallas, Texas compared algal species in various locations of a golf course during May, 1993. The study indicated little correlation with the predominant algal species on two golf greens and a nearby irrigation pond. These investigations suggest the algal species causing algal crusts on golf greens were not correlated with predominant species found in a nearby irrigation pond." |
