| Abstract/Contents: | "Biological disease control measures using two formulations of Gliocladium virens were compared to a standard fungicide, Subdue®2E, for controlling Pythium blight on bentgrass. Applications of biological treatments were applied at 2-week intervals over a 60 day period. Observations of Pythium blight activity on inoculated plugs of treated grass did not reveal useful levels of disease suppression by the G. virens biologicals following two separate inoculations. Statistical analysis of treatment means of percent blight data did not show consistent disease suppression with biologicals Soil Inoculant I or Soil Inoculant II at 2 or 4 lbs. Applications of the foliar fungicide Subdue®2E gave consistent and significant levels of disease control throughout the experiment." |
