Abstract/Contents:"Field trials were used to evaluate the phytotoxicity of three pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB) fungicide formulations on 'Penncross' bentgrass. Applications of the three formulations were made at recommended rates and double the recommended rates using a spray volume of 7 gallons/1000ft² during the month of October, 1992. Observations of treatment plots over a 14-day period demonstrated that recommended rates of Turfcide®10G were not phytotoxic to bentgrass, however, rates recommended for Terraclor® 75W and Turfcide® 4F gave symptoms of phytotoxicity. Elevated rates above those recommended for the three fungicide formulations were also phytotoxic at rates tested. These results indicate that the danger of phytotoxicity for PCNB use on bentgrass at recommended rates is highest for Turfcide® 4F and Terraclor® 75W and lowest for Turfcide®10G."
