| Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes a study "to investigate the potential for Primo to alter the cold hardiness of common and Tifway bermudagrass. Treatments consisted of nontreated plots and plots treated with one, two, or three applications of Primo during the active growth period for bermudagrass in North Carolina. Additionally, an application of Primo was made in late September to test the possible impact of Primo on patterns of fall dormancy...Additionally, sprigs collected from each plot in October and November were frozen and then planted to determine if Primo treatments had any effects on survivablility." Growth suppression, visual quality, and shoot density were all directly related to number of applications. "Below-ground biomass measurements, which included both roots and rhizomes, were generally unaffected by Primo." There was no effect from Primo on the survivability of the frozen sprigs. Primo also enhanced grow-in ability and divot recovery of Tifway bermudagrass. Scotts TGR (another growth regulator) enhanced outward lateral spread of Tifway from sod cores, but delayed divot recovery. |
