Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the Great Dunes Golf Course, located on Jekyll Island, Georgia. In January of 1999, Jekyll Island held "a three-day festive event to commemorate its 100th anniversary of golf." An invitational tournament at Great Dunes, which asked players to wear "traditional" clothing and use antique golf clubs and "gutty balls", became a focus of the celebration. Discusses the antique equipment and the history of the course, which is one of the oldest in the Southern states. |
