Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes the results of several study projects supported by the USGA to evaluate the impacts of golf on communities and the environment. Seven conclusions are presented: Golf course roughs, trees and wetlands create favorable wildlife habitats; turf protects topsoil from erosion; turf improves air quality; courses can control pests, pollen and disease; golf can reduce stress and improve physical well-being; courses improve community aesthetics; and golf contributes to the economy. |
