Abstract/Contents:"Results are summarized for a multi-year ultraviolet-light insect trap study of scarabaied beetle (Coleoptera: Scarabaiedae) populations at more than twenty locations in North, South, East, West, and Central Texas. Analysis of daily samples of beetle flights confirmed the statewide occurrence of two turfgrass destroying scarabaieds, Phyllophaga crinita Burmeister (Melolonthinae) and Cyclocephala lurida Bland (Dynastinae), disclosed local occurrences of other problematic species such as Phyllophaga congrua (LeConte) and Cyclocephala pasadenae (Casey), and cataloged many other non-pest or beneficial species. To date, taxonomic determination of over 586,000 beetle specimens has disclosed 11-56 species per site, or an overall total of approximately 150 species representing 12 subfamilies of the family Scarabaediae."
