| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of rhizosphere-inhabiting microorganisms ("called endophytes, in Anglo-Saxon languages") used to control harmful organisms in turf. Describes different types of the organisms ("plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria" and "plant-health-promoting rhizobacteria"). Details the technique of spreading the rhizobacteria with the seeds, and lists the advantages of this technique. Also mentions using the rhizobacteria in combination with special fungicides to accomplish both protective and curative goals. Describes tests to examine three different products for pest-combatting and plant restorative properties: Proradix (fluorescent pseudomonads), FZB 24 WG (Bacillus subtilis), and Green Releaf (a cocktail of pseudomonads and Bacillus types). Significant positive differences in turf quality were noticed within the first seven weeks with the first two treatments. No results were available from Greenleaf, as it was applied later than the other treatments. |
