| Abstract/Contents: | EL-500 and mefluidide were applied to a Kentucky bluegrass: red fescue turf to evaluate growth retardation and turfgrass injury. All treatments suppressed shoot growth but differed in extent of injury. Under mid-summer stress conditions, high rates of EL-500 caused unacceptable turfgrass injury. EL-500 provided longer periods of growth suppression than mefluidide. Mefluidide was more effective than EL-500 in seedhead suppression. Combinations of EL-500 plus mefluidide improved seedhead control but reduced quality at rates evaluated. Mowing treated plots 2 weeks after growth regulator applications reduced seedhead appearance and improved turfgrass quality. |
